Overview

COPD is a long-term condition that can benefit from consistent monitoring, watching for changes in your breathing, medication response, and infection risk over time, rather than only addressing it when things get worse.

How ongoing primary care can help

Your provider will review your symptoms, medication routine, and any recent infections, and can adjust inhalers or other treatments, plus coordinate additional care like pulmonary rehab or oxygen evaluation when appropriate.

When to seek emergency careSevere difficulty breathing, blue lips or fingertips, or confusion are medical emergencies, call 911.

Frequently asked questions

Can copd management really be managed over telehealth?
In many cases, yes. A primary care provider can evaluate your symptoms and history over video, review any recent labs, and help adjust your treatment plan when appropriate. For some chronic conditions, especially if they are uncontrolled, our providers may need to collect/complete vital signs, physical exams, lab tests, or imaging which requires an in person visit. Our providers will help you take the next step.
Do I need to keep seeing the same provider?
Continuity helps, as seeing the same provider over time means they already know your history and current plan, which usually means faster, more informed visits.
What if I need to be seen in person?
If your provider determines your condition needs an in-person exam, testing, or treatment they can't provide virtually, they'll let you know and help direct you to the right next step.
