Overview

Quitting smoking usually takes more than one attempt, and having a provider to check in with along the way can make a real difference. Your plan can adjust as you go, rather than being a single piece of advice.

How ongoing primary care can help

Your provider will talk through your smoking history and past quit attempts to recommend a plan, which may include prescription or over-the-counter cessation aids, and will follow up to see how it's going.

Frequently asked questions

Can smoking cessation really be managed over telehealth?
In many cases, yes. A primary care provider can evaluate your symptoms and history over video, review any recent labs, and help adjust your treatment plan when appropriate. For some chronic conditions, especially if they are uncontrolled, our providers may need to collect/complete vital signs, physical exams, lab tests, or imaging which requires an in person visit. Our providers will help you take the next step.
Do I need to keep seeing the same provider?
Continuity helps, as seeing the same provider over time means they already know your history and current plan, which usually means faster, more informed visits.
What if I need to be seen in person?
If your provider determines your condition needs an in-person exam, testing, or treatment they can't provide virtually, they'll let you know and help direct you to the right next step.
