What Are GLP-1s?

How GLP-1 medications work

GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic a natural hormone in your body that regulates appetite and blood sugar. Generally, they're intended to help you feel full longer, reduce cravings, improve blood sugar control, and support significant, sustained weight management in qualified patients.

When prescribed and monitored by a primary care provider over time, GLP-1 medications can be a helpful tool as part of a thorough, medically supervised weight management program, not a stand-alone quick fix.

Frequently asked questions

Is medical weight management right for me?
A medically assisted weight management program may be a fit if you have a BMI of 30 or higher, a BMI of 27 or higher with a weight-related chronic condition, and you've struggled to manage your weight through diet and exercise alone. Your provider will determine eligibility and whether treatment is appropriate for you.
Do I have to be in a specific state?
Our weight management telehealth providers are licensed in Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. You must be physically located in one of these states at the time of your virtual appointment.
How do I know if virtual care is a good fit for weight management?
We believe that virtual primary care works well if you're managing a related condition like high blood pressure or diabetes, want the flexibility of remote care, or are looking for an ongoing primary care relationship without leaving home.
